Why this becomes a problem

A static report can remain on file while the conditions that made it useful change around it. Different owners can act on different interpretations of the same value picture. Measures can continue without effective challenge. Governance can become periodic reporting rather than a disciplined mechanism for evidence, decisions and action.

Where the organisation requires continuing DAA assurance, the need is therefore not simply to repeat an assessment. It is to maintain a current, governed view of priorities, evidence, assumptions and decisions over time.

  1. 01

When VAO is the right fit

VAO is appropriate when an organisation has a sufficiently established value baseline, agreed assurance priorities and a separately authorised requirement for continuing DAA value assurance and governance.

The engagement is established independently with its own objectives, governance, responsibilities and deliverables. It may build on validated understanding from prior work where appropriate, but it is not activated automatically by the completion of VOR or any other DAA service.

  2. 02

    What DAA does

DAA works with the client to establish the assurance priorities, governance arrangements, measures of success, review and reporting approach and responsibilities for continuing collaboration.

The ongoing engagement supports evidence-informed value review, challenge of changing assumptions, visibility of material performance or value conditions, governance of agreed priorities and continuous improvement. Previously established evidence and understanding can be preserved where appropriate so that the organisation does not restart from zero at each review cycle.

Client executives retain decision authority and operational accountability. DAA provides continuing assurance, structured challenge and evidence-informed decision support within the agreed engagement.

  3. 03

    What the client gets

At establishment, the VAO engagement defines the agreed assurance priorities, initial engagement plan, governance arrangements, measures of success, reporting approach and client expectations.

During operation, the specific review outputs and decision records are defined by the separately governed VAO engagement and its agreed priorities. The purpose is to preserve continuity of understanding, make changing evidence and assumptions visible and support disciplined executive review and action over time.

  1. 01

    Who is typically involved

The capability required for VAO depends on the agreed assurance priorities and client context. The detailed universal VAO delivery-role and competency model is not established by the current installed operational Source Authority and is therefore not represented on this page as a fixed public team structure. Named practitioner assignment remains engagement-specific.
