Situations.05
Situations / .05 The organisation is live, but expected value is leaking
What you may be seeing
- Users complete the process, but with extra steps, workarounds or manual correction.
- Operational KPIs are below expectation even though usage appears acceptable.
- Support demand remains high long after go-live.
- Different teams achieve materially different outcomes from the same technology or process.
- Benefits are being reported below plan without a clear explanation of where they are leaking.
- The organisation is generating large amounts of usage or operational data but still cannot agree what intervention would improve performance.
- Teams are responding to visible symptoms one by one without a coherent view of the underlying constraints.

Why it matters
Visible symptoms can have very different root causes. A usage problem, process-design issue, role constraint, local behaviour, policy barrier, capability gap or data issue can all produce similar operational outcomes.
Acting on the wrong cause can add training, communications, content or governance without improving the outcome — creating more activity while value continues to leak.

What can sit behind it
Possible drivers include behavioural variation, process friction, poorly designed exceptions, local policy or control constraints, unclear roles, capability gaps, weak adoption in critical tasks, operating-model issues, support dependencies or limitations in how performance is being measured.
The purpose of diagnosis is to discriminate between those possibilities rather than assume that low value means low adoption.

Where this can lead
- 01
Value Performance & Optimisation is the primary route for a bounded live-performance or post-go-live value-leakage problem.
- 02
Value Optimisation Review may be more appropriate when the question spans multiple domains, transformations, investments or executive value hypotheses and can no longer be contained within one operational intervention.
